Just the confirmation I needed!

Hi Readers Many of you do not know that I have been doubting my suitability as an Attorney ("Solicitor") over the past year (for many reasons). I have been asking the Universe for an indication of which route I should follow and where I need to start my journey to reach my Life's Purpose. This past week was one of those beautiful moments in one's life when one simply cannot ignore the wryness of one's situation. I had run my first High Court trial on Thursday (a particularly acrimonious and messy divorce). There were several hurdles to overcome. For instance, the Registrar of the Court simply decided to change our court date two weeks before the original trial date without notifying any of the parties. Had I not attended at Court in order to index, paginate, and collate our Court file, I would not have ascertained this change in the Court date. My opponent was relying on me to ensure our readiness for trial (albeit incorrectly so). There were several conseq...

PM // RM - SUCCESS STORY FOR THE KIDS

In April 2012, I met PM at Randburg Court where she asked me to help her with her divorce. So we set up a consult and she brought her two children with her, P and S. At the time, she mandated me in respect of an unopposed divorce and thus I drafted a settlement agreement and sent it to her husband, RM, on 5 April 2012 which was just before the long Easter weekend. It was over this weekend when all the drama started. At the time, PM had only recently relocated up to Johannesburg (with P and S) while RM still lived in Durban. PM (in good faith) agreed to let RM take the kids to Durban for the Easter weekend so RM came up to JHB to fetch them and he flew down with them down to Durban. However, on the Saturday, RM had indicated to PM that he would not be returning the children to her. So we prepared an urgent application to have the kids returned to her care. However, client ended up going to Durban with her folks to try fetching the children herself. What transpired thereafter was...

Chasing the Moon

31 July 2012 Tonight, the Moon is at its fullest. It is surrounded by a speckled yet beautifully smooth array of clouds. A silvery glimmer has been draped across the Earth's landscape, which is as a result of the moonlight dancing with the clouds. I am left with an alluring and charismatic sense of intensity... While the Moon is out as it is tonight, it acts as the Queen of the Sky. She owns it and all of its inhabitants; she owns the Earth and can mesmerise anyone who dares to look at her for longer than is necessary. Admire her, you may, but show the woman respect and she will nurture you as a Mother would a child... I often speak to the Moon in the hopes that one day, she will show me the journal she kept of the times she had heard my ramblings and mused to even comment on it. I do this because it is calming and for no other reason - well, no other legitimate reason. I would never underestimate or even downplay another person's belief... so I will apply this ...

The Web of Chemical Attachment...

She falls in love. Suddenly she feels whole, Absorbed in the unified completeness. The chemistry mixes properly. Created is equilibrium of contentment; Perfection amidst external chaos. The voice of vulnerability speaks, With its soft but confirming tone. “Keep going”, it averred, Disappearing without another utterance. Experimenting on its bounds, She adds a random ingredient: A magnetic and charismatic wink. The mixture turns white and starts to foam, Extending the limits of attraction. Temptation roars in her eyes, She adds a controversial additive: A porous but thick coating of passion. Immediately, the chemistry reacts with equal vigour, Turning red and bubbling incessantly. The greed for the effects takes over, Tentatively adding voluminous quantities. The mixture retains is composition, but creates a net, Acting as a ceiling for the reactions. Overcome by confusion, She adds a renowned balancing duo: Calm & s...

The Oddity of Love

It is said that Love is blind and strange. For Love invokes its right to confuse you, To meddle with your emotions and dumbfound you, And yet it hugs you tempestuously when needed. Love may make the world go around, But Love also brings the world to a grinding halt. For if it weren't for Love, wars would neither exist nor subsist. If it weren't for Love, decision-making would not be an art to master. It is Love which turns our lives into an array of adventurous roots, Guiding our instincts in a direction most akin to our desires, Or causing us to squander our self esteem on dangerous declarations. Love in the form of same for yourself or others, It need not matter the beneficiary of that love. Love, in any manner or form, will find you. And when it does, you will become its playground. Some people seek to traduce or prevent its existence, Either within themselves or within others. Those people remarkably display a pitiful foolishness in the process, By allowing their historica...

The Power of Belief...

INTRODUCTION My perception on the power of belief originated, funnily enough, from watching the Matrix Trilogy. Neo, the lead character who was often referred to as "the One", was expected to be the saviour of humankind from the machines. He would be the one to strike a balance or to let the humans win. The problem for Neo was that he was an ordinary human being like every other human being connected to the Matrix system. What made him so different? Could it have been his intellect with information technology, or his arrogance in his selfishness? Towards the end of the first film, one realises that in fact, what made him different was that the tools were presented to him in a much more provocative manner and because he was strong and self-willed. Morpheus presented to him the tools with which he could become like his fellow leaguemen. When Neo became his equal in physical skill, Neo had to learn to be equal in mental skill to that of Morpheus. Neo's support structu...

Random Winter Nights

The wind scrapes off dry skin from my arms; It's bitter chill unnerving my joints. My teeth are threatening to chatter together, Despite my numb fingers & toes. My clothes are too thin to be outside on me. So I extend my arms & wrap my abdomen. I close my eyes & ignore iced head As it numbs on my neck like a block. One thought keeps me warm on this very night, An embrace that could remedy all chills. It livens my lips & stretches my cheeks, As a deep & satisfying smile is released. I open my eyes, feel the wind through my hair, And imagine those to be his soothing fingers. I feel the wind caress my cheeks & my forehead, And visualize his palms cupping my face. I stare at the dancing nature that surrounds me. I can feel it's shivering insides resonating with me. The dance is enhanced by its moonlit shadows, And the cloudy dark sky against its movements. He grabs my hands and wraps his body over mine, And suggests we head on insid...
