New Year = New Beginnings
Several people have said to me that this year, 2014, has been either the most challenging year of their lives or is amongst the most challenging they have experienced. Naturally, those people are looking forward to putting this year in their rear-view mirror.
I must agree that this year has been challenging but I dare not say the most challenging (lest the Universe throws another my way which tops this one).
A year full of difficult situations, confronting fears, and of new circumstances - all in one year! However, when I recall these times, I think about the purpose of challenges: to grow! These experiences are meant to help us, force us to learn so that we can, as beings, adapt.
For example, if you are someone who is accustomed to winning, or to affluence, then at some point, should a time come for you to experience loss or poverty, or both simultaneously, would this break or motivate you?
Any challenge you experience will continue to exist until you have surpassed it. Keep in mind Albert Einstein's famous wisdom: insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.
If you are someone who is anxiously waiting to rest this year, consider why you feel this way, and whether you have learned anything from those experiences. There is still time to meditate, reflect, and react!
And so... what have I taken from this year?
Lessons are not only for children, but for all beings. These lessons are so well disguised that unless you are aware, you may end up doing it all over again!
