My Second Turning Point

As beings, we hold great responsibilities in life, both in our personal and professional lives. This is true irrespective of whom that being is. We do not live only for ourselves but also for all beings with whom we interact (regularly or randomly). Therefore, we must live on purpose and carry none of our misgivings or bad habits with us. If we do this, we are not living on purpose but rather out of fear because our actions (which are based on fear) then become the recipient’s problem. Releasing those fears (whether old or new) is the kindest thing we could do for the planet. -- Little Ol' Me x

Bright Butterfly

A caterpillar; a human body, Acting & thinking only to survive. A comfortable environment, Is where I will thrive. Bathing in routine & false riches, Believing my world is cosy. I won't share my love, Even to those most nosey. Let no-one in, protect myself, From the imaginary boogeyman. Spend all my days expecting failure, Holding on Hope with impermanent hands. Stuck in the past, scared of the future, Unable to comprehend glee. My head is up, and eyes are open, Yet still I cannot be free. New branches; new pathways, Slowed only by fear of the unknown. Thoughts dwell on seeking release, To prove that I have grown. Participating & Committing fully, In a life-changing, life-fulfilling event. Be patient, kind, loving, & gentle, But also scream, kick, throw, & vent. Washing away all deadly disturbances, Detoxing the inner & outer layers. Open my eyes: it's crystal clear; Experiencing only love for a...

TURNING POINT

For five days ( which itself felt like time had stopped ), I attended a workshop that changed my life. How did I find out about this workshop? My mother had partaken in the workshop before me, and she experienced a massive shift in transformation. From being one of the most troublesome relationships in my life, she became my best friend in many ways. The workshop has been cleverly designed in such a way as to be able to break through self-created barriers of anger, fear, and control. This is the type of workshop I would recommend to: People who experience difficulties in expressing themselves correctly; People who are utter control-freaks; People who are anxious, nervous, habitually on the defensive, or act on the side of caution. Of course, it can also be attended by any other person. I believe it will be effective for anyone who shows a desire to experience change, a willingness to participate, and openness to “commitment regardless.” The course includes both...

New Year = New Beginnings

Several people have said to me that this year, 2014, has been either the most challenging year of their lives or is amongst the most challenging they have experienced. Naturally, those people are looking forward to putting this year in their rear-view mirror. I must agree that this year has been challenging but I dare not say the most challenging (lest the Universe throws another my way which tops this one). A year full of difficult situations, confronting fears, and of new circumstances - all in one year! However, when I recall these times, I think about the purpose  of challenges: to grow! These experiences are meant to help us, force us to learn so that we can, as beings, adapt. For example, if you are someone who is accustomed to winning, or to affluence, then at some point, should a time come for you to experience loss or poverty, or both simultaneously, would this break or motivate you? Any challenge you experience will continue to exist until you have surpa...

Enneagram

Something has been telling me to write. I'm now staring at this blank page, wondering what to write about -  what would be most useful not only for me but for you, the reader? Last year (2012), I attended a Personal Alchemy course in which I was confronted with personality traits in respect of both my positive and negative aspects. It is a course that I recommend everyone attends. The most important outcome following my completion thereof is that I can now see how being brutally honest  with yourself (especially when doing psychometric or personality tests) is so important. There is one specific test, the Enneagram Test , which is suited for people of various personalities (whether you are a natural skeptic or whether this adds to your journey of self discovery). The test asks very specific questions and it is in your best interests to answer them reflectively . The manner of interpreting an Enneagram and its results is also explained but essentially, the Enneagram sh...

Detailed Fascination

It only occurred to me this evening the extent to which I am intrigued with human nature. What surprises me the most is the human desire for contact . Yet what drives us is usually life in its independent form . We make our own decisions, we develop our own ways of thinking and choose the morals and philosophies by which we live. But ... having said that...  take a step back and ask yourself, " how is it that we cannot control our own emotions?" Often I wonder whether, if we could all develop the same stamina and discipline as a Volken, we would still have all the idiosyncrasies that we each have individually. I cannot see how uniqueness and ingenuity would be harvested in such a community. Nevertheless, I just want to say something about my musing regarding "attraction" . What is attraction ? It is the synergy of physical energies between two beings on a physical and sometimes emotional level. This is why age and intellect often do not play a part in this sp...

Believe: It's the Small Things that Count As Well!

I have always believed that the true nature of mankind is beautiful. It was only later on when I begun my spiritual discovery that I realised Buddha supported this by describing mankind's innate nature as "enlightened" (because "Buddha" means "the enlightened one"). One of the most exciting things about life is watching Life roll out and confirming my beliefs. I especially love it when this belief is confirmed. One of those stories I will share with you. On Friday last week, 22 March 2013, after work, I stopped at a traffic light and noticed that there were two "beggars", one was covered with a blanket, holding a cup, and walking from car to car asking for help. The other one was sitting beside one of the traffic lights. Normally, I give people food, whether it is my packed lunch for the day or whether it is leftovers. This time, the only items I had in my lunch box were two "Fresh Fruit Cups" of sliced mango pieces....
